Scott Hendricks Offers Music Instruction for Piano, Guitar, Mandolin, and Harmonica

Scott Hendricks — Arlington Heights, IL — The Arlington School of MusicScott’s involvement in music began when he was a child. His pianist father was his first influence, playing a wide variety of styles from Chopin and Rachmaninoff to cocktail jazz standards and 1940s Albert Ammons and Pete Johnson style boogie-woogie. Scott was taught the basic 12 bar blues progression at an early age. Beginning formal lessons at age seven, he progressed through the normal Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin material. It wasn’t long before he started playing current popular music (including the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Animals, CCR, and more) by ear.

Scott began playing professionally in bands during college, resulting in an extensive list of club, festival, and private engagements throughout the Midwest. These include Taste of Chicago, Navy Pier, Naperville’s Rib Fest and Last Fling, and Summerfest in Milwaukee. Scott has also performed at the Governor’s Mansion and at the State Capitol Building in Madison, WI.

Scott Teaching Piano — Arlington Heights, IL — The Arlington School of MusicScott returned to his formal study at The Arlington School of Music, A Division of Arlington Institute of Music and Performing Arts ® in the early 1980s under the late, great James Matteoni, former concert pianist and composer. In addition to his studies, Scott also began teaching at a number of local institutions. Twelve years later, in 1995 when Mr. Matteoni had to step down from his position at The Arlington School of Music, A Division of Arlington Institute of Music and Performing Arts ® due to illness, he hand-picked Scott to succeed him as piano instructor. “I was extremely humbled and flattered by the offer,” said Scott. “He really ‘grew me up’ both musically and personally, and I try to carry on with that approach. I try to share my love of music with others in a very supportive, low-pressure, fun environment.” Scott’s passion for music extends to his teaching where his supportive style emphasizes theory, technique, and an intuitive understanding of musical patterns.

In addition to instructing piano students, Scott also assists with music arrangement and theory, as well as numerous other instruments. His full list of instruction includes the following instruments:
