One-on-one voice instruction for kids, teens, and adults at The Arlington School of Music — in person at our downtown Arlington Heights studio or online.
Voice lessons at The Arlington School of Music are led by Andrew Gilstrap, Head of Vocal Studies. Instruction centers on healthy, sustainable vocal technique — breath support, resonance, diction, and range development — applied to the styles each singer loves, from classical and musical theater to pop and jazz.
Singers of every level are welcome: children discovering their voice, teens preparing for school choir placements, show choir, or musical auditions, and adults singing for growth, worship, performance, or pure enjoyment. Lessons include performance coaching, so students learn to deliver a song with confidence, not just sing the notes.
We teach in person at our downtown Arlington Heights studio and online, serving singers across the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago since 1930.

At what age can my child start voice lessons?›
Children can begin gentle, age-appropriate vocal training around age 8–10, focusing on healthy habits, pitch, and musicianship. Serious technical training deepens as the voice matures in the teen years.
What styles of singing do you teach?›
Classical, musical theater, pop, and jazz. Technique is built on a healthy classical foundation and then applied to the styles each student wants to sing.
Can voice lessons help with school musical or choir auditions?›
Yes. Audition preparation is a regular part of our vocal studio — song selection, technique, and performance coaching for choir placements, musicals, honor choirs, and college auditions.
I've never sung before. Am I too old to start?›
Not at all. Adult beginners are some of our most rewarding students. Lessons meet you exactly where you are and build technique and confidence step by step.
